POINT CHEVALIER WINS GOLD!!
The Point Chevalier athletes represented Auckland in Sydney at the Trans Tasman Games on the 18 January and won 5 track medals.
• Alana Lythe in a fine display of catch-me-if-you-can front running won Gold in the U12 Girls 1500m.
• Maiya Christini showed determination to claim a Bronze medal in the U11 Girls 1500m.
• Sabine O’Connor U11 Girls, Mark Graham U11 Boys and Alana Lythe were also selected for their respective “A” relay 4 x 400m teams and ran hard in tough races to earn Bronze medals.

Nadia Hill and Antonia Laus also competed well in their events against the top NSW athletics. ClubTreasurer Brendon O’Connor, travelling with the team, said all 6athletes had represented the Club with distinction on & off thetrack.“Conditions had been tough in the heats, especially thepreliminary meeting on 15 January where the Sprinters competed in 44.8degree heat before the officials called the event off due to heatdanger” said Mr O’Connor.

The athletes particularly want to thank those in the Community thatsupported the fund raising and especially Anne Duncan without whom thetravel would not have been possible.
