Cross Country – Grand Prix Series Winter 2015

Ten Point Chevalier athletes competed on Saturday 9th of May in the opening event of the Grand Prix Winter Cross Country series. It was a sunny autumn day perfect conditions for cross country running.

Over the flat to undulating loop course, it was a real pleasure to spot the “green singlet” in the field.

In the BU9, Benji Meyburg was 5th, only 5s off third place. While Maddie Kelso-Heap was 6th in a big field of 27 runners, just 8s off a podium finish. 7th place in BU11 for Toby Duff and same position for Ben Gregory in BU15 both showing promise.

Sam Berry finished in 9th spot in a strong field of 28 in BU13. A club spirit mention George Berry who had the biggest grin for every shout of encouragement and Charlotte Pye who never gave up.

Sophia Clarke running for ACA came in (9th) and former club members Maiya Christini (3rd) and Laura Watkinson (10th) also competed in the Youth grades.

Race two is being held in Pukekohe on Saturday 16th of May. Be prepared, there’s a good hill on the course!
