Grade 12 and 13 Interprovincial Team
Athletes in the 12 and 13 age groups can be selected to represent Auckland in the annual Interprovincial competition. Every athletic centre in New Zealand, has a team represented so it is a National level competition with the best athletes in the country. Each team consists of a maximum of 44 athletes. There are 11 male and 11 female athletes from each grade. Every athlete must be able to compete in 4 events, excluding relays. They must also be a combination of track and field events. Athletes score points for each event and this goes towards the team total. Relays are included in the overall total. The points are based on the decathlon scoring system. Athletes must register interest and attend the training sessions and final team selection is usually done after Auckland Champs.
